Empire State Building

Empire State Building Observatory

In collaboration with Empire State Realty Trust and others, Intersection was the Technology Integration Partner for their fully reimagined Observatory.

Role: UX Researcher and Designer

We unified oversight across all aspects of the technology systems to ensure the visitor and management experiences would be resilient. I worked on improving their ticketing kiosk to ensure a seamless experience from ticket selection to purchasing.

Overview

New York City’s Empire State Building is one of the most famous architectural structures in the world. Created by a team of architects and designers, the renovation aims to transform visitor experience of the skyscraper and its history. The renovation is a multi-part rebuilding of the tower, which will be completed by late 2019.

It was brought to life by a cross-disciplinary, best-in-class team from the arts and architecture to technology and entertainment industries, to conceive and curate the fully-modernized masterpiece.

Client

Thinc Design, in partnership with IDEO, reimagined and redesigned the Empire State Building Observatory Experience. Squint/Opera was hired for interactive media development. Intersection was hired as technical integrators.

In collaboration with these other organizations we were able to create the public facing kiosk for ticket purchasing.
